On Thursday, February 11, Parliament Hill Toastmasters will be holding its annual Internation Speech and Table Topics contest. There is an excellent line-up of contestants, so it promises to be a competitive and entertaining evening. All members are encouraged to attend and cheer on the contestants! |

On Thursday, February 8th, Dave completed his final speech to earn his Advanced Communicator Bronze. With participation from Victor, Kwasi and Maurice, Dave presented project #5 from the Technical Presentations manual —The Team Technical Presentation. The title of the presentation was Intellectual Property in the Digital Age. Way to go Dave! |

Parliament Hill Toastmasters will not be meeting December 24 or 31, 2009. We will be meeting again in the new year starting January 7, 2010. We wish you all the best for the holiday season. |

Chris Ford, past International President of Toasmasters, will be coming to Parliament Hill Toastmasters on Thursday, January 28, 2010! An active Toastmaster for over 25 years, Chris is a retired Canadian Forces brigadier-general. He is currently employed as the Director General of Alternative Dispute Resolution for the Canadian Department of National Defense, where he makes good use of the communication and leadership skills he has honed in Toastmasters. The theme of this meeting will be LEADERSHIP. Chris describes his speech, Leading from the Middle, as "The essential concept is that leaders don't lead in a vacuum, they lead with people all around them. It's vital to be aware of the many leadership relationships that exist, certainly with the team, but also with superiors, colleagues, supporters, detractors, and a myriad of stakeholders." It's going to be a great meeting. Guests are very welcome! |

This Thursday, October 29th, Parliament Hill Toastmasters will not be holding its regular meeting at the Ottawa Library. Instead, all members are encouraged to go to the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation building at 700 Montreal Road and cheer on Dave at the Division D Humourous Speech and Evaluation contest. The contest starts at 6pm sharp. Let's all be there and show our support! |
